THE PELICAN APPROACH
Practical Experience & Political Context
Good political consultants have extensive experience engaging successfully in the electoral process. When you partner with Pelican Campaigns, you benefit from experience gained from hundreds of campaigns. We use that experience to help you run a professional campaign and to help you identify the overarching political circumstances surrounding your campaign.
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
Running a political campaign is not easy. Many campaigns are the size of a small or medium business. They have all the same concerns as those businesses, but they also bear the pressure of having one, very public moment that defines their success or failure. There is no way to course correct after Election Day. The losing campaign goes out of business.
It is important to hire a consultant who can demonstrate mastery of the art of political campaigning and who has helped many candidates and campaign teams manage the pressure that builds as Election Day draws near.
Though you are likely to build a strong relationship with your consultant over the course of the campaign, your consultant is a political professional – not a close friend. Like a good doctor or lawyer, a good consultant should remain objective and calm in the moments in which you are likely to be embedded in your own experience and feeling uncertain. Political consultants must know how to approach moments of crisis and how to handle the associated pressures.
At Pelican Campaigns, we have extensive experience winning tough campaigns. We know what it takes to get you from a successful launch to victory, even in the face of substantial opposition. We are used to running campaigns both large and small at every level of the ballot. Our internal consulting capacity works seamlessly with external vendors to provide a high-quality product that communicates with voters. And in moments of crisis and pressure, we remain calm.
POLITICAL CONTEXT
Unless you are running in a Special Election, your race will be one of many on the ballot when voters enter the polls. Each of those other races can affect your electoral outcome. For example, if you are running for Congress in a Primary, and there is a hotly contested Sheriff’s race in one of the counties in your district, more people are likely to vote in that county than they would have based on historical data. Every one of these types of circumstances needs to be understood and factored into the campaign plan.
When you partner with Pelican Campaigns, we do extensive analysis of past elections in your area, and then we adjust the campaign plan for the electoral environment you will face in the current election. More importantly, we craft a strategy for how you will rise above the noise of these other elections and gain prominence in the minds of voters. We want people to enter the polls to vote for you, even if they are also showing up to vote in a Presidential election.
But gaining political context extends beyond understanding electoral circumstances. We also help candidates learn how to engage best in the specific type of campaign they are running. Campaigns in rural areas have a different rhythm than campaigns in suburban areas, and both are different from campaigns run in urban cores. A city council campaign follows one set of rules while a Congressional campaign follows another. Primaries differ fundamentally from General Elections, and many candidates must face a competitive General Election following a contested Primary.
Each campaign requires an appropriate approach tailor made for that campaign. We have worked on all these different types of campaigns, and we will ensure that you are well-prepared to succeed in your particular circumstances.
