Client-Led Campaigns
At the end of the day, the candidate’s name is the name that appears on the ballot. Voters are not voting for a team: they are voting for you. Our goal at Pelican Campaigns is prepare clients to direct their own campaigns.
CANDIDATE TRAINING
Whether you are running for office for the first time, running for a new office, or you are a long-time incumbent, it is always a good idea to cover the basics. Good political consultants are good teachers. As we work through the launch process of the campaign, we provide training on fundraising, political messaging, campaign budgeting, media appearances, electoral analysis, and community engagement. As the campaign progresses, we walk clients through how to read polling and judge the efficacy of political advertising. When we prepare for forums or debates, we help clients evaluate political issues that are new to them. In each of these instances, we are teaching while we work.
CANDIDATE CONTROL
The goal of the training is for clients to gain the information and perspective they need to make good decisions in the campaign. We will always provide the client with our recommendation for what we think is the best course of action, but ultimately, the critical decisions rest with the client. The client approves the budget, all advertising, and the overarching strategy of the campaign. Good candidates engage actively in the campaign process, and that active engagement improves the campaign.
At the end of the campaign, we want our clients to know exactly how they won. Candidates who have a clear understanding of how they secured victory make excellent elected officials. They are better prepared to represent the interests of their constituents and more adept at balancing competing interests in the executive or legislative process.
At Pelican Campaigns, our job is to put you in a position to be successful. The client’s job is to close the deal with voters.
